Vice President of Performance Improvement (27060)



Job Purpose: Responsible for driving process and performance improvement to reduce cost and improve effectiveness of the organization.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Defines and implements a Performance Improvement Strategy; supports the organizations needs related to third party on board or other operational technology solutions; Lead First Student on-board technology initiative to ensure First Student is the industry leader in leveraging current and future technology.
  • Responsible for the development, organization and distribution of operational and performance related data and reporting
  • Develops and maintains a technology vision for the unit.
  • Ensure First Student leadership has access to all available operational and driver behavior related data including Pre and Post Trip compliance, swipe compliance, speeding, idling and other driver behaviors. Lead the initiative to further leverage all data points to ensure First Student’s drivers are consistently operating at the expected level.
  • Responsible for research, development and deployment of on board technology, including core solutions and one-off solutions.
  • Oversee Project Management function for First Student, including provision of project management resources to all initiatives as applicable
  • Works with President, Operations Support and Performance Assurance teams to improve performance in poor performing operations.
  • Works with Operations Support team to develop operational software platforms (FOCUS, RDM, Daily Screen, etc)
  • Maintains focus on disciplined operations, supported by reporting, training and corresponding initiatives.
  • Develops and deploys specific strategies to improve driver compensation and improve discipline around process and compliance; meet or exceed budget targets
  • Develops and drives the operational excellence that derives from our size and scale
  • Defines a more flexible business model that permits us to be effective and responsive; clearly defined consistent approach to executing and running our business built on best practices and process discipline and compliance
  • Other responsibilities as required or requested

  • Handles highest level decisions for the operational excellence group
  • Develops strategies and policies along with President, COO and other stakeholders

Minimum Education & Certifications Required:

  • 4-year degree or equivalent experience

Experience & Skills Required:

  • 10+ years’ experience
  • Proven leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong business background in financial, strategic, and organizational analysis.

 

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

  • Incumbent must be able to move about the office and between floors; utilize standard office equipment; access filing system/cabinets; and communicate effectively and efficiently in person or by telephone.
