Job Purpose

The go to expert for renewable energy with deep insight into customers, suppliers, regulators, partners and technology. This position is responsible for delivering business value to drive sales and improve customer experience through a high-quality product with outside renewable energy partners. Work across the company to define and execute a renewable energy vehicle strategy including but not limited to including operations, maintenance, safety and procurement teams.  Collaborate with potential and current customers to understand their business needs and work with them to develop innovative solutions and benefits related to renewable energy vehicles that will strengthen the customer relationship. Collaborates with Business Development Team and leads contracts that include electric vehicles

Major Responsibilities

  • Establishes the direction and strategy of renewable energy vehicles including identifying growth and service expansion opportunities.
  • Translates company financial, commercial, risk management, technical and operating goals into effective contracting strategies and objectives
  • Oversees all activities and services performed related to renewable energy vehicles initiative including managing the opportunity and vendor partnerships, work pipeline, monitoring resource requirements, establishing work agreements, and managing customer expectations
  • Partners with renewable energy vehicle manufacturers and identifies opportunities to incorporate electric vehicles into First Student’s fleet. Drive formation of partnership, negotiates with Procurement, pricing and contracts.
  • Communicates directly with potential customers to gain an understanding of customer needs in order to propose solutions, and/or negotiate deal structures and documents that meet those needs. Provides overall leadership and drive key decisions during negotiations.
  • Analyzes and develops different structures for the customer including risk mitigation solutions to ensure risks are appropriately managed and quantified. Delivers contracts that position the internal project execution team for maximum success.
  • Presents deal to senior leadership, seeking approval of the proposed deal structure. Provides periodic updates to and interact with senior management
  • Stays current with changing trends related to electric vehicle industry and leads initiatives to adjust electric vehicle strategy
  • Understands the services and capabilities related to electric vehicles and promotes services to potential customers
  • Educates field operations management on services, capabilities and benefits of electric vehicles.
  • Assists field management in providing service description and pricing to include in proposals that include electric vehicles.
  • Establishes service levels for supporting field sites on their use of electric vehicles and ensures service levels are met or exceeded.
  • Manages performance of staff; performs formal annual reviews of direct reports and interim reviews as required; oversees the personnel management of his/her organization to ensure goal of a high-performance organization and consistency in evaluation and performance
  • Oversees the billing and collection for work performed related to electric vehicles.
  • Prepares an annual budget to include all aspects of spend and revenue generation. Reforecasts and updates the budget as requested and as needed based on well-substantiated factors. Manages the group spending level to the financial budget.

Minimum Education & Certifications Required

  • B.S. or B.A. in Business discipline. MBA preferred

Experience & Skills Required

  • Thought leader in the industry, advocating for renewable energy technology, shaping standards, educating customers on the benefits of renewable energy and best practices of renewable energy with 10 years relevant experience in business leadership roles
  • Deep expertise across multiple fleet segments (transit, delivery, service, motor pool) with experience managing or serving large scale fleet operations and breadth of established relationships
  • Familiarity with broader mobility/fleet ecosystem including trends, technologies and industry structure/players
  • Experience and interest in renewable energy management sector
  • Past performance of developing strong relationships with key executives within large complex organizations and closing long term complex deals.
  • Ability to lead and inspire teams and peers
  • Demonstrated success in promoting, selling, and delivering on services to customers
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a P&L center
  • Strong communication, influencing and leadership skills; capable of building effective relationships with customers, business partners and vendors; is comfortable in presenting to executive management
  • Demonstrated high level of integrity, ability to work with ambiguity, and strong sense of confidence to deliver on responsibilities
  • Incumbent must be able to move about the office and between floors; utilize standard office equipment; access filing system/cabinets; and communicate effectively and efficiently in person or by telephone.
  • 50% Travel; higher during peak business periods
