Sr. Accountant (29494)



Major Responsibilities:

  • Manage all accounting functions of the location including: Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable to include daily Billing data entry/reconciliation, Trip edit process, payment collections, Fare collection and reconciliation; month-end closing process with emphasis on accruals. Assist General Manager in budget and forecast preparation, benefit expense tracking, and all financial and operations reporting requirements.  Ensures that all contractual, legal, and required company mandates and deadlines are met.
  • Prepare Client invoices for revenue services and fuel purchases. Must run reports, verify information, and submit daily information to GM for approval. Coordinates the delivery of client billing information
  • Maintain a monthly file of invoices, PPE Classified Earnings, and all other relevant monthly expenses for month end detail review.
  • Must have a clear understanding of contractual requirements while maintaining the revenue file on a day to day basis.
  • Prepare monthly payroll accruals and provide to management.
  • Must have a clear understanding of applicable revenue contract, company policies and other controlling documents.
  • Responsible for Daily, Weekly and Monthly statistical reporting and meeting all deadlines
  • Prepares the monthly forecast along with all analysis and variance explanation.
  • Responsible for performing all end of the month functions including submitting accruals, analyzing P&L statements, making corrections and providing variance explanations.
  • Sets up and maintains paper and electronic filing systems for records, correspondence, and other materials.

 Required Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years accounting experience
  • 5+ years managing an office
  • Reviews and verifies the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records.
  • Analyzes trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses.
  • Reports the company’s finances to management, offering suggestions about resource utilization, tax strategies, and assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
  • Experience with MS Office products and accounting software preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understand and proficient in an accrual based accounting system.
  • Familiar with current Washington State law regarding paid sick leave and FMLA.
  • Ensure that risk assessments are carried out for areas and activities under the role holder’s control, that appropriate control measures are implemented and the recommendations are communicated to all of those who may be at risk
  • Report incidents, near misses and dangerous occurrences in a timely manner and ensure effective remedial action is taken
  • Promote and implement, where appropriate, safe working practices by means of campaigns, initiatives and promote a positive attitude to safety through personal leadership
  • Support the Company’s environmental campaigns and be aware of FirstGroup annual environmental targets

Starting Pay: $80,000+
