Proposal Content Writer Job Summary:

Proposal content writers are responsible for editing, revising, and updating boilerplate content for use in proposals developed in response to RFPs, as well as creating new content as required.  This includes organization and maintenance of our library of proposal content.

They also work directly with the Business Development team to continuously update and improve written materials, while identifying new content needs. Work includes modification of existing text, new content development, client personalization, editing, and formatting for use in response to RFPs, post-proposal submissions, or other writing needs as identified.  

Finally, proposal content writers assist with proposal production as needed, including organizing materials, ensuring required forms are signed appropriately, printing documents, and facilitating timely delivery of proposal submissions.

Responsibilities of a Proposal Content Writer:

  • Create and update Business Development text, boilerplate materials and writing pieces, utilizing excellent technical writing skills, attention to detail, and correct use of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Maintain and update corporate information, location profiles, statistical information, bios, customer references and other written documents in a timely manner.
  • Translate complicated technical information into clear, concise documents for various target audiences and distribute up-to-date boilerplate into content library. Coordinate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to write and edit proposal content that is updated, clear and impactful.
  • Manage content library, ensuring all content pieces are regularly updated, well-written and persuasive.
  • Work with Managers of Sales Strategy to identify documentation and content needs. Prepare or revise documents in support of proposal development, interview presentation and other required documents as needed.
  • Assist in special projects as required, to include proposal management tasks as needed.
  • Finalizes revisions on existing content and uploads additions to content library.
  • Makes recommendations to management for process improvement.

What we would like you to possess:

  • Successful experience writing highly-rated content with little support from other personnel; preferably with extensive understanding of transit operations (not required).
  • A proven track record of handling complicated documents and working under tight deadlines.
  • A high level of proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint).
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience in business or technical writing (preferred).
  • A self-starter attitude with excellent and demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent overall writing skills in several different styles/tones with impeccable spelling and grammar.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to handle challenges and make solid decisions.
  • Ability to work in a time sensitive environment on very detail sensitive projects; work is performed under strict time constraints with little margin for errors.
  • Ability to establish priorities, manage time effectively, and provide complete content.
  • Experience with documenting process improvements; establishing action plans and creating visually effective documents.
