Project Manager - IT (27056)



GENERAL FUNCTION: Partners with Senior Management and IT Teams members to identify, prioritize, track, and execute to deliver one or many simultaneous initiatives. This includes clarifying business objectives, building project structure, establishing program / project direction, providing status to senior management with aligning and directing cross-functional / high performing teams by removing roadblocks to deliver on scope, time and budget. Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience.

 

As a team member of the IT Central PMO, this role is required to help enhance, guide and oversee adherence of the end-to-end Project Management Methodology (PMBOK, ITIL, SDLC and/or Agile)/Portfolio governance while operating within the FirstGroup risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Directly manage the planning and execution of a Program with multiple workstreams or many concurrent IT Shared Service projects.
  • Manage and partner with supplier PMs for the alignment of the Program/Projects overall approach, scope and design required to define project plans with detail tasks, required project resources, deliverables and issue resolution.
  • Manage and track critical project dependencies to drive resolution using contingency planning and risk management.
  • Develop communication plan to ensure coordination of team meeting cadence; daily standup weekly core team and IT Shared Services Leadership meetings.
  • Communicate effectively and timely facts regarding status in team meetings among teams and stakeholders to drive execution of project tasks by outlining priority.
  • Ensure quality by providing timely and accurate metrics for the measurement of Program/Project execution, PMO process and financial status.
  • Manages Program/Projects adherence with Project management life cycle promoting efficiency and improvements of project management standards.
  • Support planning, process and metric development of the Portfolio to ensure alignment of each Program/Project.
  • Support Intake Process to ensure alignment of proposal to overall strategy.
  • Participate as an active member of the PMO to drive process improvement and consistent standards to deliver value. 
  • Coordinates activities between business units and third-party suppliers to create and review services provided.
  • Provides oversight to third party suppliers.
  • Drives task management within First Group
  • Manages projects within agreed to quality tolerances for schedule, cost and quality
  • Creates and reviews third party status reporting for accuracy and completeness
  • Reviews and manages project financial plans
  • Coordinate and facilitate status meetings
  • Create project exception reporting and change control requests as required

Minimum Education & Certifications Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field required
  • 5 years in program/project management, process reengineering, organizational design, and/or combination of education and experience.
  • PMP and/or Scrum Master certification or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated experience in initiating, managing and implementing IT Programs/Projects
  • Strong organizational, analytical skills; demonstrating ability to think about business problems in new ways and clarify key issue in complex situations
  • Strong facilitation, conflict resolution, negotiation and influencing skills required
  • A proven team player with ability to partner, maintain and develop relationships
  • Able to lead and motivate others and thrive in an extremely fast-paced environment
  • Ability to define and manage expectations while leading multiple initiatives.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Highly self-motivated; ability to work independently with minimal supervision; self-directed.

Experience & Skills Required:

  • Proven experience leading IT development or IT technology projects (typically 5+ years)
  • Experience within in a weak-matrixed organization with the ability to establish relationships at all levels of an organization
  • Experience coordinating activities with third party suppliers
  • Proficient with Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint
  • Practical experience utilizing project management methodologies and best practices (PMBOK, ITIL, SDLC, Agile, SAFe etc.)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Practical experience with Financial management as it relates to cost of Program/Projects
  • Practical experience with PM Corporate Application and Infrastructure implementations
  • Background and experience in transportation industry a plus
  • Practical experience Dashboard Reporting using Tableau a plus
