Operations Manager

Operations Manager major responsibilities:

  • Assists the General Manager (GM) in day-to-day operational oversight of location operations including coordinating routing/scheduling, supervisor of dispatchers, in service monitoring, coordinating fueling, and bus turn-in activities involved in daily transit operations.
  • Assumes first-line supervision of location employees.  Ensures company policies and procedures are followed.
  • Monitors and evaluates location operations activities: Vehicle on time statistics, missed runs, driver total work hours, driver total pay hours, customer compliant and satisfaction management, accident data, road call data, other operations related functions.
  • Recommends discipline to GM and mentors and develops’ operations staff as necessary. 
  • Manages customer satisfaction for the location and completes customer complaint investigations
  • Develops manpower requirements for Road Supervisors, Dispatchers, Operators and Service Personnel. Prepares and verifies operations payroll.
  • Coordinates operations personnel certification and training with the Safety Manager.
  • Works with the Maintenance Manger to ensure that vehicles dispatched are in proper working conditions.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned and may assist with other areas based on location needs.

Operations Manager requirements:

  • 5-7 years experience in transportation and dispatching transit operations.
  • 2-3 years supervisory experience preferred.
  • Accounting and detailed reporting experience.
  • Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to appropriately interact with employees of all levels including drivers, customers, senior management, client representatives, union officials, and general public.
  • Work extended hours regularly, including weekends and holidays.
  • Demonstrate regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Possess working vehicle to travel within service area as needed.
  • Meet customer certification requirements in operations software and able to act as system administrator to assist resolving local user issues.
