First Group America is currently hiring for a Compensation Manager.  The Compensation Manager will provide compensation expertise on compensation programs and practices that focus on attracting, retaining and rewarding our talent. Key compensation responsibilities include assisting with the implementation of compensation programs including creating and maintaining related information to selecting, participating and completing benchmark analysis of surveys; overseeing analysis and forecasting related to programs; and providing compensation support. The Compensation Manager will be responsible for helping lead the compensation team in the development, implementation and administration of compensation programs. Additionally, will support the day-to-day administration of sales compensation plans and programs. Will proactively identify opportunities and recommend options for standardizing and /or streamlining processes.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support Sr. Director in the development, design, implementation and administration of broad-based compensation programs (base pay +variable compensation), policies and procedures to support the business strategy. Own the day-to-day administration of all of FGA's compensation programs and policies.
  • Establish, build, and maintain strong relationships with assigned business groups to make compensation recommendations. Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition team and HR Business Partners to create competitive offers for new hires and current employees.
  • Administer sales compensation plans in partnership with key stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely performance calculations and sales compensation payouts. Provide sales employees with statements for commission payments. Work with Payroll on meeting reporting and payroll deadlines; Use data and metrics to determine program success and to drive improvements in all elements of compensation
  • Maintain all company-wide compensation documentation, materials, and trainings
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of reporting needs related to compensation data for the organization. Use data and metrics to determine program success and to drive improvements in all elements of compensation
  • Manage the job and employee data in Payfactors compensation system. Work with appropriate partners to ensure data in Payfactors is updated regularly.
  • Support Job architecture and compensation structure, research, gather and analyze data to determine appropriate salary level and job title for new positions. Evaluate proposed and existing jobs and classify them in accordance with the levels of importance and responsibility to the organization. Manage job documentation, job descriptions, databases and tables related to job codes, and job families.
  • Coordinates the execution of the Performance Management and Bonus Cycle with regards to the process flow, system updates and compensation review.
  • Initiate complex analysis and recommendations for maintenance and improvement of current compensation infrastructure, including but not limited to: job codes, job families, job descriptions, guidelines for new hires, transfers, promotions, integrity of system of records of practices and procedures
  • Provide analysis to operations that drive decisions regarding contracts where detailed compensation analysis is needed. Once identified, provide detailed analysis and set-up calls with Region SVP and/or RVP to review analysis and outline next steps
  • Ensure compensation programs are administered in compliance with company policies as well as applicable federal and state regulations or legislation, including applicable wage and hour regulations, and Data Privacy and Protection Guidelines.
  • Partner with recruiters, HRBPs and hiring managers during the recruitment process to provide guidance around compensation when needed
  • Look for opportunities to simplify or enhance operational processes and workflow. Develop solutions to problems of unusual complexity that have a board impact on the business which require a high degree of ingenuity, creativity, and innovation
  • Leads the participation in various salary review studies and analyzes market data to ensure FGA maintains a competitive market position
  • Compiles, analyzes and interprets data to ensure internal equity and external competitiveness and makes recommendations.
  • Other responsibilities as required or requested


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance or related degree and/or experience required
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation preferred
  • 7+ years of compensation administration or HR data analysis experience in a corporate environment
  • Must have strong overall computing capability, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint), internet, and importing and exporting files. Experience with HCM Systems (ADP, Workday, SuccessFactors, Oracle etc.)
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills; Strong attention to details
  • Excellent communication Skills and the ability to work effectively with Department Heads, peers and employees at all levels
  • Proactive and self-motivated—you know how to get stuff done!
  • Commitment to providing exceptional customer service to our business partners; ability to collaborate within and outside of the HR team
  • A detail-oriented worker who's able to maintain a high degree of accuracy without losing sight of the big picture
